The San Antonio Model Railroad Association Modular Group, Inc. (SAMRA) is an historical and educational society chartered as a non-profit organization in the state of Texas dedicated to the purpose of preserving and teaching the history of railroading through the building, displaying and setting up its modules for public displays. Currently, the modular layout has three main lines that can be operated in both DC or DCC mode and a small switching layout. The modular layout is a great place to learn and practice model railroading skills. The exhibit contains a Thomas the Train module that children love and a display depicting Balcones Heights points of interests. The SAMRA Modular Group Exhibit is located on the second floor of Wonderland of the Americas Mall, 4522 Fredericksburg Rd., Open: Friday, 5:00 p.m. – 8pm; Saturday 10 a.m, – 6 p.m.; Sunday 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., Admission is free.
